El proyecto “Solidaridad Con Los Niños De La Calle” se inició hace unos 5 años atras en la ciudad de Cochabamba – Bolivia.

El  programa de apoyo en Australia, al mencionado proyecto,  comenzó en febrero del 2007, bajo la iniciativa de Daisy Montaño como miembro de Rotary Club Glenhaven (Sydney) quien enlazó este club con el de Rotary  Cochabamba Tunari, para hermanarlos.

Rotary Tunari dió a conocer a Daisy algunos de los proyectos en los cuales ellos estaban involucrados.

Entre estos estaba el de “Solidaridad con Niños de la Calle”. Muchos de estos niños vivían en la calle y estaban expuestos a los peligros callejeros tales como drogas, abuso de menores, etc.

De todos los proyectos la visitante quedó impactada con la necesidad imperiosa de ayudar a éstos niños.

Este proyecto está bajo la tutela del Arzobispado de Cochabamba, el cual por falta de medios económicos recurrió a Rotary Tunari para formar una alianza de colaboración y así sacar a estos niños del ambiente callejero.

El Arzobispado, con la ayuda de Rotary Tunari consiguió un pequeño equipo para fabricar helados de leche, con el objetivo de comercializarlos y de esta manera generar fondos para mantener esta pequeña fabrica y solventar otras necesidades de este grupo                   (ej; alimentación, etc)

Al mismo tiempo este proyecto cuenta con un programa de alfabetización para los niños asistentes al Centro.

También existe un programa de manualidades donde los niños ejercitan su creatividad haciendo tarjetas de navidad, pulseras, tejidos, manteles, etc para la venta.

Con diversas donaciones y un mínimo de fondos, el centro ha logrado hacer algo, asi como podran ver en las siguientes  diapositivas.

The project’ Solidarity with Street Kids’ was initiated in Cochabamba,
Bolivia, about 5 years ago.
Support in Australia for this project commenced in February, 2007 as an initiative of Daisy Montaño, a member of the Glenhaven Rotary Club, who linked this club with the Cochabamba Tunari Rotary Club  in a Rotarian Sisterhood.

Rotary Tunari told Daisy about some of the projects in which they were involved.

Among these projects was “Solidarity with Street Kids.”  Many of the children cared for through this project used to live on the streets and were exposed to the dangers of the streets, such as drugs, child abuse, etc. 

Of all the projects, the visiting rotarian was especially impressed by the pressing need for help to these kids.

he project is under the auspices of the office of the Archbishop of Cochabamba, which, needing more financial assistance, contacted Rotary Cochabamba Tunari to ask for cooperation in the endeavour to remove these children from the environment of the streets

The office of the Archbishop, with Rotary Tunari’s assistance, obtained a small ice-cream making machine.  The objective was to make it a commercial operation and in this way generate some income that would keep the small factory going as well as cover the needs of the children, i.e., food, etc.

The project also offers a literacy and numeracy program for the children attending the centre.

There is also a crafts program so the kids can exercise their creativity in making Christmas cards, bracelets, weaving, table cloth-making, etc. for sale.

Through various donations and with a limited amount of cash, the centre has managed to achieve something, as you can see in the following images.
